The engine is suitable for all commercial duties and with the optional gear driven hydraulic pump is particularly suited to inshore fishing vessels and small workboats.
The long life expectancy of this engine makes it an attractive choice to the discerning pleasure boat owner where the unit is suited to a wide range of applications including sailing and power cruisers as well as barges and inland waterways
boats.

As with all Mermaid engines a range of gearboxes are available including, PRM, Borg Warner, Twin Disc, and Hurth/ZF.
Reduction ratios from 1:1 to 3:1 are available using these transmissions

The engine is suitable for all commercial duties and in particular for inshore fishing vessels and small workboats of all types. The long life expectancy of this engine also makes it appropriate to the discerning pleasure boat owner where the unit is frequently specified for both sailing and power cruisers.

Transmission are recommended according to the application and installation requirements and alternatives include Borg Warner 10-18 series, PRM 500 (302) and ZF45A. Reduction ratios from 1:1 to 3:1 are available using these transmissions. For heavy duty commercial applications the PRM 1000 (601) is recommended which is available with reduction ratios up to 4:1 and a clutched P.T.O. option. |

This conservatively rated engine is most suited for all commercial duties including fishing boats, workboats, patrol boats and military applications of all types but may equally be applied to pleasure craft or charter boats where its long life will be of benefit. |
The preferred transmission is the Newage PRM 750D (402) or 750A (402A), but alternatives include Borg Warner 10-18 series and for commercial duties Twin Disc MG506 or MG506A and Newage PRM 1000(601) transmissions are recommended. Reduction ratios from 1:1 to 4:1 are available using these transmissions. |

At its full rating this engine is most suitable for fast pleasure craft and in the continuously rated version the Mermaid “Majestic” is suitable for all commercial duties including fast fishing boats, rescue craft and patrol boats of all types. |
Transmissions are recommended according to the application and installation requirements and alternatives include Borg Warner 10-18 series or the ZF63A down angle gear. For commercial applications the PRM 750 (402) or heavy duty PRM 1000 (601) are recommended. All these transmissions are available with a wide range of reduction ratios. |

The engine is a derated version of the Mermaid “Turbo Plus” and is thus suitable for commercial duties in its continuously rated form as well as for all weather fast cruising craft at the maximum rating. |
Transmissions are recommended according to the application and installation requirements and alternatives include Borg Warner 5000 series and Twin Disc MG 502 down angle gears. For commercial applications the PRM 1000 (601) or Twin Disc MG5050 are recommended. All these transmissions are available with a wide range of reduction ratios. |

The engine has been specially developed for high speed pleasure craft where the exceptional performance and compact dimensions are necessary. A continuously rated version of the Mermaid “Turbo Plus” is also available suitable for most commercial duties including fast fishing boats, pilot boats, patrol boats and rescue craft. |
Transmissions are recommended according to the application and installation requirements and alternatives include the Twin Disc MG5050 or MG5050A and the Newage PRM 1000 (601). For commercial duties the Twin Disc MG5061 is recommended. Reduction Ratios from 1:1 to 4:1 are available using these transmissions. |
